Sit back and do a body check-in with me. Does your body feel stiff and rigid? Does it feel like you are not only wearing body armor, but your physical body is BECOMING body armor? Yeah, I know that feeling. Persistent back tension that won’t ever seem to quit. The constant dull ache of the muscles along either side of the spine. The hard and tight upper trap muscles. Even resulting in stiffness in the neck. The tension travelling up the back of the neck and tension headaches at the end of the day. Have you ever noticed that you only feel these things after having to be around people all day, at work, or maybe after a day out shopping?
Posture or Something Else?
Today, we really do like to blame everything on our posture habits. I think this is an oversimplification of how our muscular systems work though. The way we often think of our bodies is that we make a conscious choice and then our bodies respond. This is true, but it is missing a large percentage of how we operate. So much of what we sense and do is outside of our consciousness. Meaning that we aren’t aware of it. Being aware of every stimulus and response uses an extreme amount of energy. So our brain makes it easy for us by just handling things underneath the radar or below consciousness.
So, I pose the question. Do your shoulders go up to your ears or round forward at work because of your workload or because of the people and energy around you? Similarly, are you tired from a day of shopping or interactions because you were doing a lot or because of how taxing it is to be around certain people?
Empaths and Persistent Back Tension
Empaths are sensitive people that pick up easily on the energy, emotions, and sensations of the people they are around. And we are more common than you think. Because of how easily we pick up stuff from other people, we need to be diligent about separating what is ours from what is not. If you are an empath, sensitive, intuitive, or maybe you just have loads of persistent upper back, neck, and shoulder tension, I have something for you.
Guided Visualization To Clear Tension
I recorded a guided visualization that will walk you through taking off this armor, cleansing your energy, and then making a decision to put the armor back on or not. Try using this guided visualization as a daily grounding and cleansing practice. A way to relieve persistent back tension as well. Once you have a handful of these sessions under your belt, these are the things you can look forward to.
- Better discernment in putting on and taking off your armor as needed throughout the day.
- Ability to tell the difference between what is yours and what is not yours to carry.
- Clearing out energy, emotions, and sensations that are not yours.
- Desire to clean up energetic boundaries more regularly to keep from carrying others stuff for too long.
Don’t believe me? If you have persistent back tension, try it for yourself and let me know how it goes 😉
